SOYLsense SOYLsense

SOYLsense uses remote sensing technology and the HGCA Winter Wheat Canopy Management guidelines to identify and manage variations in crop canopy development.

The 2007 survey has shown a reported benefit of £40/ha when compared against flat rate application.

2007 saw over 100 customers use the SOYLsense system to apply their nitrogen. This was a total of over 50,000 acres and covered the whole country with farms in Yorkshire, East Anglia, Hampshire and the West Country being involved.

SOYLsense New Whole Farm Pricing

In response to demand for more satellite imagery of the whole farm, the SOYLsense pricing scheme has been changed. Now there is a whole farm price. This allows satellite imagery for the whole farm to be acquired for a flat fee rather than by the acre. Three whole farm images will be supplied through the season.

Fields that show potential for variable application can then be selected from the whole farm. These fields can have nitrogen application maps created and the customer only pays for those maps that are converted.

Up to 250 ha - £700
Up to 600 ha - £1000
Over 600 ha - £1300
Plus £1.50/ha for N application

Why Use SOYLsense?

  • Satellite imagery senses the WHOLE field and not just part of the field.
  • There is NO CAPITAL OUTLAY on hardware.
  • No INSTALLATION or MAINTENANCE of hardware is required.
  • Satellite images cover a large area in a SINGLE PASS allowing economies of scale.
  • Imagery is calibrated and checked by the service provider NOT the end user.
  • Imagery interpretation is based on PUBLISHED RESEARCH methodology.
  • Typical gross margin of £40 per hectare
