It’s always exciting for us to have a new release of MySOYL for you to explore. The new version that went live last week has got some amazing features which change the way we use yield data and how variable rate files are managed. There have been quite a lot more subtle changes too and that’s what I would like to focus on this week.

Firstly, all of the buttons and pop-ups you will see have been re-designed, making it much clearer where to go, what to do, how to do it and what things mean. There have been some other design changes that also make MySOYL easier, and crucially faster to use.

Tool modules
All of the tool modules have a changed layout at the top:

This allows you to see which parts need completing in order to create a task. Some of the more advanced features are now hidden, making task creation even more straightforward. However, if you need them then you can make them visible by turning them on in the settings at the top of the toolbar, where you can change the size of the panel too:

You can also close it by clicking on the cross.

Variable rate nitrogen
If you use variable rate nitrogen you can now go straight into the relevant tools by clicking on the ‘VR Nitrogen’ applications button in the right hand toolbar:

The layer inspector
The layer inspector (in the left hand tool bar) has changed to make data interrogation even more accurate:

Selecting layers to view
The way that you select data to view has slightly changed to make it more robust and faster to load. As before, use the dropdown at the top of the view pane but select the layer type, crop year and then click ‘Confirm view’:

Legends
There are now legends available for all views by clicking ‘Hide/Show legend’:

Linked views
You can also decide which maps should be linked together when viewing multiple panes. Decide which ones should be in each group on the dropdown at the top left:

All the maps of ’Group 1’ will navigate together and all of the 'Group 2’ will navigate together. Why? To compare fields that are not necessarily near each other!
